Chritsmas in The United States

Tricia loves Christmas. Christmas is celebrated on December 25th in the United States. Children receive gifts for Christmas.  People have Christmas trees in their house. They decorate the trees with lights, ornaments and bows. They put a star or an angel on top of the tree. In the morning the children wake up early and run to the tree. There are presents under the tree for everyone. They are wrapped in pretty colors, usually red and green. The tree can be a real one. If it is real, it has a special stand that has water in it so it can survive in the house.

Children also hang stockings up. They get smaller gifts in their stockings Christmas morning. Some say that Santa Claus brings all of the presents the night before Christmas. Children make cookies for Santa Claus and leave them by the tree for him to eat. When they get up in the morning, the cookies are gone, and the presents are there. They say he comes to the houses by sleigh with reindeers. The most famous reindeer is Rudolph. He is supposed to have a red nose so he can help Santa see at night. Christmas is a special occasion for many families because some members of the family who live in different states or different cities get together to celebrate the holiday.
